Young Friends Vintner Dinner to Launch Boca Bacchanal Winefest & Auction

The Young Friends of the Boca Raton Historical Society are “Taking it to the Maxx” and launching the seventh annual Boca Bacchanal Winefest and Auction in grand style. Boca Bacchanal Winefest & Auction is a weekend celebration of food and wine scheduled for February 27 – March 1, 2009 at various sites in the Boca Raton area.

For the first time the Boca Raton Historical Society, which created this major fundraiser in 2003, will present a Young Friends Vintner Dinner on February 26th specifically for their members who are under the age of 40. “When we conceived this dinner we realized that the younger Boca Raton Historical Society members were among the most appreciative of fine wine and good food, and were very enthusiastic supporters of Boca Bacchanal,” says Mary Glynn Cullinan, Young Friends Vintner Dinner Chairman. “We wanted to have an event especially for them, and to invite a South Florida “Rising Star” Chef to create the dinner. We have asked Shaun Foley, the Executive Sous Chef at the award winning Café Maxx in Pompano Beach, to join forces with Joel Peterson, the prized vintner from Ravenswood Winery, to create the dinner.”

The Young Friends Vintner Dinner will be held at the historic Train Depot in Boca Raton. Among the highlights of the dinner will be a “blending seminar” conducted by Joel Peterson of Ravenswood Winery, which will also be providing its world class wines to match each course at the dinner. The Festivities begin at 7:00 PM with a Champagne reception. Tickets are priced at $100 per person, $175 per couple. A BRHS membership is required; $20 for individual and $35 for family.

Boca Bacchanal “officially” begins on February 27th with eight Friday Vintner Dinners held in private residences, featuring world class chefs and vintners. The Bacchanal & Auction highlighted by silent and live auctions and a multi-course dinner, will take place on Saturday evening at the Boca Raton Resort & Club. A Sunday afternoon Grand Tasting, showcasing 30 local restaurants and over 140 wines, puts a delicious exclamation point on the festivities.

Wold, WXEL, Publix Supermarkets Charities, Champagne Taittinger; Palm Beach County Cultural Council and the Palm Beach County Tourist Development Council.

Boca Bacchanal is the major fundraising event of the BRHS. Proceeds from Boca Bacchanal 2009 will benefit the Heritage Education Programs of the Boca Raton Historical Society. These innovative, diverse and rapidly growing programs are widely utilized and appreciated throughout area schools, civic and cultural organizations, and interested individuals.
