Boca Raton Historical Society’s Heritage Education Programs to Benefit

BOCA RATON, FL – (September 24, 2008) Cheers! It’s time to mark your calendar and clear your schedule for a tasty weekend of fun. Planning for the Seventh Annual Boca Bacchanal Winefest & Auction, the Boca Raton Historical Society’s largest and most eagerly anticipated fundraiser is in full swing. Invitations to attend have already been accepted by some of the nation’s top chefs and an international array of acclaimed vintners.

Scheduled for February 27- March 1, 2009, this edition of the sensational wine and food event will feature sumptuous Friday night Vintner Dinners, held in magnificent private residences, which bring together the talents of celebrated chefs and vintners as each dinner presents a deliciously coordinated dining experience.

The exciting Bacchanal & Auction takes place on Saturday evening at the Boca Raton Resort & Club. It features a dynamic reception, an amazing dinner created with the encore participation of the Vintner Dinner Chefs and Vintners, and the silent and live auctions, with fabulous wine and lifestyle lots up for bid. The weekend concludes on Sunday afternoon outdoors at the Centre for the Arts at Mizner Park Amphitheatre with the popular Grand Tasting, which showcases the specialties of 30 outstanding local chefs and scores of top vintners.

“We are keeping some details under wraps until we announce the Vintner Dinner Chefs and Vintners, but I have seen the list and I can tell you this will be one of the top food and wine events in the country,” said Janie Lott, this year’s Co-Chairwoman. “I can also reveal that, by popular demand, one of our Vintner Dinners will be created by a young Rising Star Chef especially for the Boca Raton Historical Society’s ‘Young Friends’, those under 40 years old, who are among the most enthusiastic segment of Boca Bacchanal patrons. We are naming this dinner ‘Sip, Savor and Dine’, and we think it will be a big hit. The Committee is going to ‘uncork’ the final Vintner Dinner Chef and Vintner pairings at a special Pairings Party in November, so stay tuned!”

Boca Bacchanal benefits the Boca Raton Historical Society’s Heritage Education Programs, which take the past, as well as the unfolding history and heritage of Boca Raton, into the community. Event partners include Republic National Distributing Company, The Boca Raton Resort & Club, Boca Raton Magazine,The Wine News, Cendyn, Carla Marsh Public Relations, Legal Sea Foods, Champagne Taittinger, Reims; Palm Beach County Cultural Council and the Palm Beach County Tourist Development Council. Prime partnership opportunities are still available for Boca Bacchanal, and the Committee is also welcoming volunteers for all aspects of the events.

“Our goal is to involve the entire community,” Janie said, adding that she expects more than 2,000 guests from our area, as well as from around the country, to attend.
