The 11th Annual Boca Bacchanal Food & Wine Weekend
Raised Funds for Boca Raton Historical Society & Museum

Boca Raton, FL, April 3, 2013 – The 11th Annual Boca Bacchanal, recognized as one of Florida’s most prestigious food and wine weekends, featured an array of world-class events March 22-24. The weekend raised funds for the Heritage Education and Historic Preservation Programs of the Boca Raton Historical Society & Museum.

The Honorary Chairmen for the weekend were Steve and Stephanie Miskew, with Thom and Joyce DeVita serving as Chairmen. Mr. Robert “Bobby” Campbell was presented with the prestigious Bacchus Award during the event in recognition for his support of the Boca Bacchanal and the Boca Raton Historical Society & Museum.

The Boca Bacchanal featured chefs for 2013 were: Eduardo Rodriguez of Geronimo in Santa Fe, New Mexico; Peng Looi of August Moon Chinese Bistro and Asiatique Restaurant in Louisville, Kentucky; Paula DaSilva from 1500° -Eden Roc Resort in Miami Beach, Florida; Chris Ponte, of Cafe Ponte in Clearwater, Florida; Piero Premoli of Pricci in Atlanta, Georgia; Christopher Prosperi of Metro Bis in Simsbury, Connecticut; and Michelle Weaver of Charleston Grill in Charleston, South Carolina.

The featured vintners were: Count Patrick d'Aulan, Alta Vista Winery, Argentina; Luciano Castiello, Castello Banfi and Vigne Regali, Tuscany, Italy; Thierry Roset, Champagne Charles Heidsieck, Reims, France; Cynthia Lohr, J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines, San Jose, California; René Schlatter, Merryvale Vineyards, Napa Valley, California; and Christopher W. Silva, St. Francis Winery & Vineyards, Sonoma Valley, California.

The weekend kicked off with the Bacchus Bash on March 22 at the Boca Raton Resort & Club. Guests mingled with 14 celebrated chefs and vintners and sampled signature cuisine with by the bite stations and tableside presentations. The event featured entertainment, demonstrations, music and dancing, along with silent and live auctions offering fabulous wine, travel, cuisine and lifestyle lots. Thom and Joyce Devita chaired the Bash, and Betsy Fletcher served as the Auction Procurement Chair.

The elegant Vintner Dinners, on Saturday, March 23, were held in six stunning private locations, pairing the talents of the above-mentioned chefs and vintners. The Chef Chair was Stephanie Miskew and Chef Liaison was Laurie Saunders.

The Boca Bacchanal’s Grand Tasting, on Sunday afternoon, March 24, attracted more than 900 attendees to an alfresco luncheon by-the-bite on the tented green at the Mizner Park Amphitheatre where guests enjoyed delicious specialties presented by 22 outstanding local chefs and restaurants, and an exceptional presentation of 140 featured wines. The event also featured a beer garden. The Grand Tasting Co-Chairmen were Brandon and Kelli McLeod & Craig and Katherine Regna.
