Boca Raton, FL – April 9, 2012 – More than 1,800 revelers enjoyed
the 2012 edition of Boca Bacchanal Winefest Weekend, a toast to the event's Tenth Anniversary,
which was held March 23-25 in Boca Raton. Presented by the Boca Raton Historical Society as a principal fund-raiser, Boca Bacchanal raised over $300,000 to help support the organization's
Historic Preservation and Heritage Education Programs.
An outstanding roster of chefs and vintners created six superb "sold out" Vintner
Dinners in private settings on Friday night to kick off the festivities. On Saturday evening the
Bacchus Bash was a smashing success. Bidders vied for a magnificent array of live auction lots
at the elegant Boca Raton Resort & Club. As guests arrived at the lavish reception in the Great
Hall they were treated to tasting specialties of the Vintner Dinner Chefs and Vintners in an encore
Then they savored a sumptuous multi-course Bacchanal feast prepared by the Resort's
Executive Chef, Andrew Roenbeck and his staff. Each course was escorted by fine wines from
the Vintner's top portfolios. Activities continued after the auction with live music, a decadent
dessert bar, and a dance party where celebrations lasted into the wee hours.
The weekend concluded with a "by-the-bite" luncheon and wine tasting on the tented
green at the Mizner Park Amphitheatre. Guests enjoyed the delicious specialties of 26 top local
restaurants and were able to sample 140 different wines.
"We were truly pleased with this year' s Boca Bacchanal," said Wine Chairman, Eli
Valdes. "From the Friday Vintner Dinners, to the Saturday Bacchus Bash and Sunday's Grand
Tasting, each provided a memorable opportunity for guests to enjoy terrific food and wine while contributing to worthwhile programs that benefit our community."
Monies raised through sponsorships, ticket and product sales, Fund-a-Need contributions and the auctions support the Historical Society's Heritage Education and Historic Preservation programs. They reach more than 65,000 children and adults annually through a variety of initiatives which build a legacy and sense of place in Boca Raton.
