Bacchanal: Roman festival of Bacchus, the god of wine, celebrated in classical times with dancing, song and revelry.
The Name: Caroline Seebohm, in her book Boca Rococo, talks about the 1920s as a boom period in Boca Raton. It was an exhilarating time, bursting with hope for the future, a decade when visionary architect Addison Mizner was implementing his dream and investors, entrepreneurs, revelers and adventurers of all descriptions poured into the area. She refers to it as the "Boca Bacchanal". The Boca Raton Historical Society (“BRHS”) is proud to pay homage to that rousing era.
Description: The Boca Raton Historical Society has a tasty message for food and wine lovers. Its time to revel! A weekend of great wine matched with delectable culinary delights featuring acclaimed chefs and prized vintners will tempt the savvy palates of patrons at the Fifth Annual Boca Bacchanal. Sip, savor and bid through the event's world-class weekend of Vintner Dinners, Wine Seminars, The Bacchanal & Auction and The Grand Tasting.
Since its inception in 2003 Boca Bacchanal has attracted scores of top chefs and hundreds of prized vintners from the U.S. and Europe and more than 5,000 guests. Wine Spectator has named Boca Bacchanal one of America's top 20 winefests, and we are proud to have been profiled in national epicurean, lifestyle and trade publications.
